불합격

불합격 편지를 받았습니다.
아쉬운 마음이 들지만 한편으로는 차라리 잘 되었다는 생각도 듭니다.

백명정도의 지원자 중에서 top12에 들어간 것으로 만족하려 합니다. 

결과적으로는 떨어졌지만, 준비하면서 좋은 경험을 했습니다. 학자로서 제가 어떻게 여기까지 달려왔고 무엇을 준비했는지 고민하고 정리할 수 있었습니다. 공부를 시작했을 때에 가졌던 학문적인 관심이 변하지 않았고, 시작했을 때의 바램대로 학문적으로 더욱 성숙하고 옹골차게 자라있는 모습을 확인할 수 있었습니다.  그것이면 족합니다.

After interviewing twelve candidates at the Society for Biblical Literature meeting, the search committee has now met and narrowed our focus to three candidates whom we are inviting to our campus in the spring. I regret to inform you that you are not among these three finalists. Narrowing this highly-qualified group to three candidates was difficult. Your outstanding qualifications placed you among the few candidates—out of nearly one hundred applicants—that we considered very carefully for serving on our faculty. The search will remain open until a candidate accepts our offer of employment. In the event that none of the three candidates whom we invite to campus proves to be the right fit, your application will immediately be reconsidered. Thank you for your interest in 000. I wish you well in your ongoing endeavors in the academy and in the church."
